The Ontario Solar Industry is positioned to become the fastest growing industry in 2010/2011/2012 as a result of the Ontario Feed-In Tariff (FIT) which began October 1st, 2009. This program offers property owners a 20 year contract which now pays $0.549 / kWh produced from solar panels which are connected to the power grid. As an example, a home owner that installs a 3 kW solar system on their roof would receive approximately $3000 per year for 20 years ($60,000) on an initial investment of roughly $20,000. Not only is this a lucrative financial investment which is guaranteed by the government and tax free for 10 years, it is also a great investment to help our environment. In the first 2 months of the program, the Ontario Power Authority received over 2200 FIT applications.
